Holiday highlights

Palma

Capital of the Balearic Islands and a major international port, Palma is a great spot for picking up bargains, as well as authentic Majorcan souvenirs. The magnificent Gothic Cathedral, built on the site of a pre-existing Arab mosque, is the city’s pride and joy.

Majorcan Food

Famous main dishes include Tumbet - a splendid vegetable dish, Fideua - the local paella made with noodles rather than rice, sophisticated salt cod dishes, fresh fish dishes, pork loin in a Majorcan sauce, pork wrapped in cabbage, suckling pig, numerous lamb dishes, cauliflower with raisins and pine nuts, pumpkin fritters and local mushroom dishes.

Valldemossa/Soller

Valldemossa is one of the most beautiful villages in Mallorca. Located in the hills of the Tramuntana range, surrounded by forested hills and lush countryside makes Valldemossa a wonderful day out and is an extraordinary cultural visit. Soller is a hotspot with day trippers who arrive on the vintage train from Palma and where they can soak up the atmosphere and the sun. With several tapas bars, a fine selection of artisan food shops, local ice-cream and freshly squeezed orange juice, there is little temptation to move on.

Pollensa

Tucked between two hills, the town is filled with characterful lanes that wind around little squares perfect for wandering around. The main square, Placa Major is home to the 18th century Nostra Senyora Del Angels church with it's rather fabulous rose window.
