Jordan is rich in monuments from every age of humanity, including the rock-carved city of Petra and the Roman city of Jerash. On this 14-night holiday you will visit some of the oldest and most breathtaking sites in the world as you travel through lands rich in religious history.

Float in the healing waters of the Dead Sea on the lowest geographical point of earth, drive by jeep through the desert where Lawrence of Arabia led his troops and wander through forts and castles that contain some of the oldest ruins in the world. You will also walk through a narrow corridor of towering rock face to come to the hidden town of Petra, where you can admire the stunning temples and theatres in an ancient village carved out of red rock.

As if Jordan wasn't impressive enough, this holiday also offers you the opportunity to enjoy an independent three day stay in the unique city of Istanbul at the end of your tour. Enjoy a city tour with a local guide as well as ample time to explore this incredible city at your own pace.

Holiday highlights

Amman

The capital of Jordan is a fascinating city of contrasts – a unique blend of old and new, ideally situated on a hilly area between the desert and the fertile Jordan Valley.

Jerash

The city’s golden age came under Roman rule, during which time it was known as Gerasa. The site is now generally acknowledged to be one of the best preserved Roman provincial towns in the world.

Petra

Often described as the eighth wonder of the ancient world, it is without doubt Jordan’s most valuable treasure and greatest tourist attraction.  It is a vast, unique city, carved into the sheer rock face by the Nabataeans, an industrious Arab people who settled there more than 2000 years ago, turning it into an important junction for the silk, spice and other trade routes that linked China, India and southern Arabia with Egypt, Syria, Greece and Rome.

Istanbul's imperial Mosque of Sultan Ahmet I
The historic areas of Istanbul, a UNESCO World Heritage site, showcase a host of masterpieces of the city's eloquent history, notably the 17th century Blue Mosque. Known as the ‘Blue Mosque’ because of its interior tiles, this is the masterwork of Ottoman architect Sedefkar Mehmet Aga. The Mosque is situated on the site of the Great Palace of Byzantium.
