This late season tour concentrates on the beauty of gardens in winter coupled with the spirit of Christmas in the market and chapels of the historic city of Cambridge.

With its  majestic college buildings, beautiful architecture, museums and galleries, Cambridge has something for every visitor. Cambridge Botanic Garden

The Cambridge University Botanic Garden allows visitors to discover plants from all over the world in 40 acres of beautiful gardens and glasshouses. The garden showcases around 8,000 different plant species and boasts a winter garden, glasshouses, a lake, rock gardens & a large collection of trees.

Anglesea Abbey Gardens

Anglesea Abbey is a country house in northeast Cambridge and the house and its grounds are owned by the National Trust. The gardens of Anglesey Abbey are renowned for their colour all year round. The Winter Garden is particularly beautiful with a wide variety of shrubs and trees and colourful plants such as Scarlet Willow and Red-barked Dogwood, which dazzle with orange and red respectively. The Himalyan Silver Birch Grove with its pure white stems is not to be missed.The air is also usually full of the beautiful smell of Sarcococca (Christmas Box), Mahonia, Chimonanthus and the winter-flowering honeysuckle.

Situated in the heart of East Anglia, Cambridge is a quaint city with a beautiful historic marketplace, majestic college buildings, and impressive architecture. Visitors to the city can enjoy the many museums and art galleries and explore the array of passages set around the historic market place and colleges. Trip Itinerary - Day by day

Day 1 - Travel to England & Anglesea Abbey Gardens

Afternoon

Anglesea Abbey Gardens

Upon arrival in London Stansted Airport, you will be transferred for a visit to Anglesey Abbey Gardens where there is free time for lunch before a guided tour of their renowned winter garden. Afterwards you will have time to explore the remainder of the garden or visit their excellent garden shop full of gardening gift ideas. Travel to Cambridge where the tour is based in a central hotel. Frances will advise / escort you to one of the many nearby restaurants on both evenings.

Day 2 - Discover Cambridge

Discover Cambridge

Enjoy a city tour by bus with Frances in the morning. You will have the remainder of the day free to shop and explore this wonderful city. Why not visit one of the many choral services happening in the college chapels at this time of year.

Day 3 - Fitzwilliam Museum & Cambridge Botanic Garden

Morning

Fitzwilliam Museum & Cambridge Botanic Garden

After a leisurely breakfast, check out of the hotel, luggage will be held until departure time. Frances will lead you on a short walk to the nearby Fitzwilliam Museum which is the art and antiquities museum of the University of Cambridge. Enjoy free time and lunch there before walking to the nearby Cambridge Botanic Gardens for a guided tour with emphasis on their unique Winter Garden.

Afternoon

Return Home

In the afternoon you will be transferred to London Stansted Airport for your return flight to Dublin.
