The stunning natural scenery and tranquil atmosphere of Lake Como have enchanted artists and delighted holidaymakers for centuries. The mild Mediterranean climate is tempered by a calm breeze from the lake, making it the perfect year-round holiday destination.

Located in the Italian region of Lombardy, Lake Como is Italy’s third largest lake. It is surrounded by lush foliage and dramatic snow covered mountains, and is within easy reach of a handful of popular Alpine towns. Lake Como remains one of our favourite and most popular destinations. You’ll enjoy a relaxing boat tour of the region taking in the beautiful sites surrounding the lake including the charming lakeside town of Bellagio.

Explore the delights of the Italian Alps as you embark on a unique tour to the Alpine towns of Tirano and Chiavenna. Sit back, relax and soak up the beautiful scenery as you enjoy a sightseeing  journey on the Bernina Express from Poschiavo to Diavolezza. You’ll round off the day with a visit to the elegant Swiss town of St Moritz, with its shimmering lake, luscious forests and imposing mountains.

During this 7-night holiday, you will be based in either the lakeside town of Tremezzo or Cadenabbia, depending on your chosen date below. Famous for its attractive lakeside villas, the small tourist resort of Tremezzo boasts a classic lakeside promenade and is the home of our 3 Star hotel accommodation option. Located at the heart of Lake Como, the quaint lakeside town of Cadenabbia offers enchanting panoramic views of the lake and is home to our 4 Star hotel accommodation option.

What's more, as this is a solo friendly holiday there is no single room supplement.

Climate
The Italian Lake region is renowned for its pleasant and mild Mediterranean climate throughout the year. Just as the sea would, the Lake has a moderating influence on the climate. A pleasant breeze blows from the lake during the hot and sunny summer months and during the winter months, despite the altitude, the temperature is kept above freezing, limiting snow and frost to the higher Alpine areas.
Food & Drink

Northern Italian cuisine tends to be hearty, with butter more commonly used than the olive oil and tomatoes favoured in the south.  You’ll find delicious cheeses (Gorgonzola, Taleggio) and air dried salted beef (Bresaola) on most restaurant menus. Holiday highlights

Milan
A city synonymous with fashion, Milan is home to the chic upscale stores of the Quadrilatero d'Oro, as well as the more reasonably priced shops on the Corso Buenos Aires. If shopping isn’t for you, there is plenty more to see including the ornate Duomo (cathedral), La Scala Opera House and numerous art galleries and museums.
Bellagio
Known as the ‘pearl of the lake’, Bellagio is home to incredibly well-preserved historic buildings, narrow cobbled lanes and chic shops selling beautiful Italian handmade items including scarves, jewellery and handbags.  The town is small enough to walk around taking in the beautiful gardens and views of the lake.
The Bernina Express
The narrow gauge Bernina Express is a UNESCO World Heritage Railway and offers a fascinating panoramic Alpine journey. Highlights of the journey include views of the White Lake, Black Lake and breath-taking glaciers.
Villa Carlotta
Built for the Milanese marquis Giorgio Clerici at the end of the 17th century, the villa contains a magnificent Italian botanic garden with ornate fountains and sculptures.
Villa Balbianello
The villa contains an impressive Italianate garden that was completely renovated in the early 20th century. It is built on terraces of majestic plane trees overlooking the sparkling lake.
When in Italy
An Italian holiday wouldn't be complete without spending time in one of the beautiful piazzas that grace every town and city. Relax over coffee or a cooling ice cream, and spend some time ‘people watching’. You’ll pay a little more for your refreshments sitting at a table in a square than you would standing inside the bar, but you’ll be rewarded by the views, and that special ‘Dolce Vita’ atmosphere, only found in Italy!
