Lake Garda is Italy’s largest lake and one of Northern Italy’s most popular tourist destinations. Lake Garda straddles three provinces, Verona to the south east, Brescia to the south west and Trento to the north. The lake is just over 50km long, 20km wide and would take you about 3 hours to drive around its circumference (160km).

The lake is surrounded by luscious hills to the south and imposing mountains to the north, creating a mild Mediterranean climate. The surrounding landscape provides an ideal environment for nature to flourish and visitors to the region can enjoy the ample lemon groves, orange trees, vineyards and olive plantations that thrive in the area.

The region is renowned for its magnificent landscape but has also been admired for its rich culture and intriguing history. History enthusiasts will enjoy exploring the quaint medieval villages that dot the lake and absorbing the remnants of the memorable battles that took place in the Venetian castles. There are many attractions of both historical and cultural significance to visit in the region, such as the Palazzo Bettoni, which is one of the most beautiful villas of the lake and The Vittoriale degli Italiani, an imposing Citadel comprising of numerous impressive buildings, squares, theatres, and gardens.

Lake Garda is an ideal location for a relaxing holiday. For those looking to recharge their batteries, the region boasts some of the best spas in Italy, where guests can focus on their wellbeing and relaxation. The Sirmione Spas incorporate sulphurous water naturally from the lake to ease all sorts of ailments and the Garda Thermal Park features an array of relaxing thermal water pools so guests can relax and unwind in the beautiful scenery.

Lake Garda is bordered by three magnificent regions, each with their own unique character and influence on the region’s gastronomy. The area is renowned for its olive oil, with olives grown locally, producing a light, delicate oil that pairs well with the region’s freshwater fish. The Alto Garda area is well known for its distinctive lemon houses and the citrus fruits grown in this area are also incorporated into the gastronomy offering and can be seen in the Limoncino liqueur produced in the region.

Lake Garda is renowned for the excellent wine produced in the area and visitors will often incorporate a visit to a local vineyard to sample the impressive wine offering. Producing wine is an important tradition in the area and guests to the region can embark on a journey to discover the flavours and fragrances of the Garda vineyards, from Merlot and Cabernet to Grigio and Sauvignon.

Guests to Lake Garda can enjoy the tranquil lake and restore their energy by immersing themselves in a holiday full of relaxation, beauty and culture, amid a stunning natural backdrop.

Lake Garda Accommodation

We offer a selection of tour dates throughout the year based either in Riva del Garda, Limone or Torbole, all excellent locations from which to explore the region.

Riva del Garda is a charming lakeside retreat, located at the northern end of Lake Garda. It is surrounded by imposing mountains on one side and sparkling blue water on the other. While this is a great location from which to explore the lake, it is also an attraction in itself. Why not take a stroll along the winding streets and relax by the waterfront, which consists of a harbour, a park and a beach. Soak up the atmosphere of charming local life as you stroll through the town, taking in the medieval archways, renaissance churches, narrow cobbled streets and bustling town square along the way. Take a break and enjoy a coffee or ice cream in the sunshine in one of the many cafes or restaurants in the area.

Limone is one of the most picturesque places to stay in Lake Garda, and again is another great base for exploring and enjoying the lake. Located along the northern end of Lake Garda, Limone is set along a backdrop of rocky cliffs with stunning lakeside scenery. The heart of Limone old town is centred around its beautiful little harbour, the Porto Vecchio. This area is a great place to relax and unwind with its picturesque waterfront terraces and plenty of waterfront cafés from which you can enjoy the lakeside views while sipping on a cappuccino. The quaint narrow streets around the port are filled with gorgeous boutiques and shops so you can leave the lake behind and shop to your heart’s content.

Torbole: The famous writer Goethe described Torbole, during his tour of Italy in the late 18th Century, as "a marvel of nature, an enchanting place". Torbole still retains its charm and beauty today. A historic village located between the Monte Baldo Mountain and the shores of Lake Garda. Enjoy a stroll through the beautiful village and see the fishing harbour which has preserved its typical 15th Century appearance and is one of the most picturesque aspects of Torbole. Torbole is also internationally renowned as a haven for windsurfing and sailing. Whether you’re seeking an active holiday or simply want to relax and take in the stunning scenery, Torbole is perfectly located on Lake Garda.
