View Dates & Prices

The regions of Delhi and Rajasthan in the north of India are home to some of the most impressive sights in Asia. With visits to the Taj Mahal* and the magical city of Udaipur included, you will experience the very best of this fascinating country on this 14 or 15 night break.*

Along your journey you will visit ancient palaces and monuments, proud fortresses, mosques and bustling cities. Take a rickshaw ride in Old Delhi’s busy streets, and awaken your senses on a spicy kaleidoscope of colour and sound in its buzzing markets. In Agra, you will gaze in wonder at the most famous monument to love, the Taj Mahal*. You will visit the Amber Fort in the Pink City of Jaipur and, of course, have plenty of time at leisure to discover India at your own pace. Come with us on this holiday of a lifetime and discover the Splendours of India for yourself.

As if India wasn't impressive enough, this holiday also offers you the opportunity to enjoy an independent three day stay in the unique city of Dubai at the end of your tour. Lying on the calm, blue waters of the south eastern Persian Gulf and flanked by a majestic desert, Dubai offers all-year-round sunshine and luxury along with the adventure of a unique Arabian experience. Please note that your extension in Dubai will be on an individual basis rather than as part of a group, and that guide services are not included for this part of the tour.

*10 nights accommodation in India, 3 nights in Dubai and 1 or 2 overnight flights.

*In order to preserve the beauty and integrity of the iconic monument, the Taj Mahal, cleaning and restoration work is ongoing at this site. Some phases of the restoration involve scaffolding and mud treatment,  thus a clear view of the entire monument may not be possible.

The same tour is available on the same dates without the Dubai extension.

Passport
Irish and UK citizens require a visa to enter India. Passport must be valid for at least 6 months. Click here for information on visas for India.  Holders of an Irish or UK passport can obtain entry permits upon arrival in Dubai. Non Irish & UK citizens should check requirements.
Dress Code
Compared with certain parts of Asia, India has a very relaxed dress code and similarly by comparison with certain parts of the Middle East, Dubai has a very relaxed dress code. However in both regions, care should be taken not to give offence by wearing clothing, which may be considered revealing, especially when visiting religious sites. At the pool or on the beaches, trunks, swim-suits and bikinis are quite acceptable.
Climate

India has a varied continental climate. Spring occurs from March to April, summer from May to October, and winter from November to February. Tropical monsoon occurs from June to August, and post-monsoon or northeast monsoon season (Oct-Dec). Dubai has a hot, sunny desert climate. Avoid the sun between 11am and 3pm. At other times, sunhat, sun glasses and sun block are recommended.

Food & Drink

The cuisine in Rajasthan is predominantly vegetarian, with beans and lentils being the focus although chicken and lamb dishes are also widely available - you will see little to no pork or beef in the north of India. The style of dishes is varied and delicious, from hot and spicy to mild and aromatic, you will notice the subtle variations in the food as you travel from place to place. Curry served with fluffy rice and flatbreads usually make up the main meal of the day with dry fruits, spices and yogurt being the predominant ingredients. Dubai is a fantastic place to sample Middle Eastern cuisine, as well as offering countless international dining options. Breads and slow cooked meats are staple, with hummus, tabbouleh and other delicious accompaniments served alongside. Desserts are flavoured with rose water, nuts and dried fruits.

Holiday highlights

Delhi

Delhi has been the focal point to so many invasions and absorbed so many cultures that it perfectly captures the essence of India. Exploring New Delhi, you will see the Lutyens designed parliament building, drive past India Gate and along the beautiful tree lined boulevards of the diplomatic quarter. The Red Fort dominates the Old Delhi landscape, with walls and watchtowers towering above the local streets and alleys.

Udaipur

Udaipur known as the “Venice of the East” is an breathtaking city built around Lake Pichola. The floating palace featured in James Bond’s Octopussy and many bars and restaurants regularly show the film for visitors.

Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal is one of the worlds most beautiful monuments and built by Shah Jehan as a memorial to his favourite wife. The brilliance and symmetry of this elegant marble structure, embedded with semi-precious stones and reflected in cool, clear pools, is guaranteed to take your breath away.

Fatehpuhr Sikri

Fatehpuhr Sikri is a deserted city to the west of Agra. Used in the 16th century for barely twenty years as the court of the Emperor Akbar, the city was suddenly abandoned. Highlights include the Royal Palace and Audience Hall, both of which offer an excellent insight into the courtly life of Mughal royalty.

Jaipur

Known as the Pink City due to its painted stone buildings, Jaipur is a lively and bustling place and is the capital of Rajasthan. Today, visitors can discover the lavish architectural projects backed by the royal family, including the Jantar Mantar observatory and the “Palace of Winds”. Outside the city stands the magnificent Amber Palace, decorated with marble, mirror work and mosaics, lays on top of a hill overlooking the city.

Jumeirah Beach - Dubai

Jumeirah Beach is a beautiful white sand beach located in the Jumeirah district of Dubai. It stretches along on the coast of the Persian Gulf and features a water park, numerous hotels with bars and restaurants for you to enjoy and a shopping complex.

Dubai Creek

Dubai's waterfront epitomizes the city's personality. The best way to see the trading port is from the water. You can book a cruise or hire an abra (small boat) and ask the captain to take you to Al-Maktoum bridge and back. Also take time to walk around the dhow wharfage on the Deira side of Dubai Creek, to the west of the abra dock.

Grand Mosque - Dubai

The Grand Mosque in Bur Dubai is home to the city's tallest minaret. It was built in the 1990s in the style of the Grand Mosque, which dated from 1900 but was demolished to make way for another mosque in 1960. The new Grand Mosque's sand-coloured walls and wooden shutters blend perfectly with the surrounding old quarter of Bur Dubai. Jumeira Mosque is known for its size and elaborate design. The best time to see it is at night, when it is spectacularly lit.
