If you are considering a holiday that combines sun, sea and fantastic scenery then look no further than this Madeira SuperSaver Holiday. Known as the ‘floating flower garden’, the beautiful island of Madeira is situated in the Atlantic Ocean between the Canaries and Portugal. This Portuguese territory is lapped by the waters of the Gulf Stream and was discovered in the 15th century by explorers in the service of Prince Henry the Navigator. It is, in fact, the summit of an underwater mountain.

Offering the visitor a kaleidoscope of visual treats, with green terraced mountainsides, a superb climate, dramatic rocky outcrops and picturesque villages, Madeira has it all. With free time to relax by the sea and enjoy this botanical paradise.

*Please note, this holiday does not include excursions.

Holiday highlights

Portela

Portela stands an impressive 2,000 feet above sea level, giving panoramic views of the impressive rock formations and a part of the North coast.

Madeira Botanical Gardens

Located in Funchal, the Botanical Gardens provides spectacular panoramic views over the mountainous backdrop, the city below and its bay with the deep blue waters of the Atlantic. The Botanical Gardens also offers a cable car ride that crosses the breath-taking Joao Gomes Stream Valley and travels high above the city of Funchal to the historical village of Monte.

Markets

Regional markets sell all kinds of agricultural products and local food specialties to be consumed there or to take away. Usually taking place during the weekends, you will find these typical markets throughout the island. The Mercado dos Lavradores market in Funchal’s Old Town is a favourite among visiting tourists.
