Airport

Flight to Milan is approx. two hours. The airport is roughly 60 minutes (50km) to your hotel.

Climate

Lake Maggiore is renowned for its mild and pleasant climate. The weather is most warm and dry in spring and autumn. Summers are warm and winter days can be cool.

Food & Drink

Northern Italian food tends to be richer and heartier than that found in Italy’s Mediterranean regions, but it is no less appealing, with fine cheeses, cured meats, risottos and filled pastas on every menu. During a stay in Lake Maggiore, enjoy renowned local cheeses such as Bettelmatt, or Ossolano d’Alpe - delicious eaten with the high quality honey produced in the area. Speciality cured meats include mortadella and violini di capra (cured goat’s leg). Full-bodied red wines like Ghemme Docg and Nebbiolo from the Novara hills, Prunent and Neuv Bruschett from the Ossola valleys will complement this delectable Alpine produce. The nearly 60 kilometer long narrow gauge railway track leads across the dizzying heights of viaducts, past deep ravines and thundering waterfalls, through sunlit chestnut forests and fertile vineyards, tunnels and hairpin bends.
Orta
