Holiday highlights

Budva Old Town

Boasting a stunning location on the shores of the Adriatic Sea, the medieval walled city of Budva is home to an impressive selection of Catholic and Orthodox churches, picturesque squares, and an imposing Citadel fortress. You can also pay a visit to the archaeological museum where you can see a range of ancient artefacts uncovered after a major earthquake in 1979.

Serpentine Mountain Road

In the late 19th century, Montenegrin builders built the road connecting Kotor and Njeguši, the birthplace of the famous dynasty Petrovic. By this road, many travellers have come from the warm, coastal climate to Cetinje and further north into the cold, harsh winter of continental Montenegro. Thanks to the Serpentine Road, it first became possible to import the fine wines of France and silk fabrics of the Far East for the Montenegrin court and prominent Montenegrins. One of the largest construction undertakings in the history of Montenegro, the 25km long Serpentine Mountain Road is a testimony to the human perseverance that opened the Montenegrin crags to the rest of the world.

Boka Bay Boat Tour

The Boka Bay (Boka Kotorska, also known as the Gulf of Kotor) is one of the most distinctive landscapes anywhere on the Mediterranean. The southernmost fjord in Europe boasts hundreds of stories about its old towns, famous captains and numerous conquerors. Sail along the bay to the Baroque town of Perast and visit the man-made island of Our Lady of the Rocks. Continue to the Old Town of Kotor and discover the history and culture inside the city walls.

Suggestions for Days at Leisure

For days at leisure in Montenegro, we can suggest several options such as a Dubrovnik day trip, a day trip to Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina or even a North Montenegro day trip to visit the canyons and national parks. We can also suggest a visit to St. Stephen's Island – this visit can include a scenic walk through the island as well as taking in the amazing views from the Oliva restaurant. There is also the possibility of taking a drive to Petrovac – a small city just 20 km from Budva. Petrovac and St. Stephen's Island can be reached by local transportation from Budva. Guests who would prefer to remain in Budva can visit the medieval monasteries Praskvica and Rezevici, and also enjoy the numerous restaurants and coffee bars which offer breathtaking views of the local landscape.
