Travel to Japan
Depart on your overnight flight to Osaka.
Arrive in Japan & welcome dinner
Upon arrival in Osaka you will be met by our local representative before being transferred to your hotel in Kyoto and enjoying a welcome dinner with the group at a local restaurant.
Kyoto City Tour
You will spend today exploring the sights of Kyoto with your local guide. There will be a visit to the impressive Buddhist temples including Kiyomizu-dera which is one of the most celebrated in Japan. From here you will move on to Sanjūsangen-dō, which is thought to be the longest wooden building in the world.
The tour also includes a visit to the Heian Shrine, with time to explore the intricate architecture and beautiful surrounding gardens. You will finish today with a visit to the 17th Century Nijō Castle, the former residence of Tokugawa Ieyasu and a UNESCO World Heritage Site before returning to your hotel. Lunch is included.
Today you will enjoy a full day excursion to Nara, the former 8th century capital of Japan. The city is filled with historic treasures including some of Japan's oldest and largest temples. The tour includes a visit to Nara Park, Kofukiji and Tōdai-ji Temple, one of the country’s most famous temples. You will also see the ancient Kasuga-taisha shrine, famous for its bronze and stone lanterns. Lunch is included at a local restaurant.
Dinner & Geisha Show
Enjoy dinner this evening at a local restaurant, followed by a Geisha performance.
Kyoto at Leisure or Optional Excursion to Hiroshima
Today is free to enjoy at your own pace in Kyoto. Alternatively, you can book an optional full day guided excursion to Hiroshima including Miyajima and Itsukushima Shrine, the Peace Memorial Park & Museum and the Atomic Bomb Dome (subject to minimum numbers). Please note the distance from your hotel to Kyoto station is approx. 15 mins walking. The train journey from Kyoto to Hiroshima is approx. 1hr 45mins each way.
Please note: The Torri Gate at the Itsukushima shrine is currently under renovations.
Transfer to Osaka & City Tour
After checking out of your hotel you will transfer to Japan’s second largest city – Osaka. You will take a guided tour of the city to include Umeda Skydeck Observatory, Osaka Castle and strolling along Dotonbori area.
Transfer to Odawara
Today, you will travel to Odawara on one of the famous ‘bullet trains’. Upon arrival in Odawara station you will be met by your guide to enjoy a full day tour of Hakone. The tranquil Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park is a popular escape from Tokyo and is home to Japan’s highest mountain, Mount Fuji.
Tour of Hakone
Embark on a guided sightseeing tour of Hakone by coach including a visit to Hakone Open Air Museum, which is fully designed and landscaped with gardens and sculptures. Afterwards, enjoy a boat trip on Lake Ashi, where you can soak up the picturesque surroundings and take the Komagatake Ropeway Cable Car offering terrific photo opportunities of Mt Fuji on a clear day. Lunch is included at a local restaurant.
Tour of Kamakura
Today, take in Kamakura's main sights including Kotokuin and Hase Kannon Temples, Komachi Street and Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. Lunch included at local restaurant.
Transfer to Tokyo
Afterwards, take a guided transfer to your hotel in Tokyo.
Tokyo City Tour
After breakfast you will take in some of the sights and sounds of bustling Tokyo, including visits to Tokyo Tower, Koishikawa Korakuen and Hamarikyu Gardens. You will also see the Imperial Palace Plaza, which is home to the Japanese Imperial family.
Tokyo including Tea Ceremony & Ikebana
This morning you will visit the National Museum and Ueno Park before witnessing a tea ceremony and learning the Japanese art of Ikebana (flower arranging).
You will have the afternoon free for shopping and sightseeing at your leisure. Take a cruise around Tokyo Bay, shop in Ginza or wander in one of the many beautiful city parks with cafes and temples.
Tokyo City Tour
Your excursion today includes a visit to Asakusa Kannon Temple, Meiji Shrine and Ginza, which is recognised as one of the most luxurious shopping districts in the world. There will also be a visit to the more traditional Nakamise shopping arcade. In the afternoon, explore the Harajuku district on foot, known internationally as the centre of Japanese youth culture and fashion. Lunch included at a local restaurant.
You will be transferred with guide assistance to Tokyo airport for your overnight flight home.
