Frances MacDonald will prepare you for a wonderful day exploring the 11 acres of the Show and tell you how best to navigate this spectacular display of gardens, plants and features. You will also visit the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, one of the most renowned gardens in the world and have a guided tour by her of the wonderful Royal Horticultural Society Gardens at Wisley.

Frances MacDonald
Frances trained in the National Botanic Gardens and has worked in gardening for over 35 years. She and her husband, Iain, whom she met while working at Kew Gardens, live in The Bay Garden in Camolin, Co. Wexford and open their garden to the public during the summer months. Frances has 20 years’ experience in organising and guiding garden tours at home, in Europe and further afield in China, South Africa and Japan where she has previously lived.
Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew
The world’s most famous garden is home to over 100 attractions, and holds over 250 years of history. Explore the attractive buildings, formal gardens, galleries and sculptures throughout and take some free time to enjoy lunch in the café at your leisure.
Chelsea Flower Show
Every year over 150,000 visitors descend and all eyes are on Chelsea for the most famous flower show in the world. This is the best place to find emerging garden trends. Exhibits range from traditional to futuristic, from classic to the ridiculous – all demonstrating incredible dedication and attention from the ambitious Garden Designers who participate in the show.

Trip Itinerary - Day by day

Day 1 - Travel to London

Morning

Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew

On arrival in London, you will be transferred by private coach to the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew for a guided tour by Frances. There will be free time to explore on your own or visit the shop.

Afternoon

Transfer to hotel

Transfer to your hotel in Twickenham. When you have checked-in and unpacked, Frances will advise on/escort you to the delightful riverside area of Twickenham where you can experience a variety of local restaurants.

Day 2 - Chelsea Flower Show

Full Day

Chelsea Flower Show

Depart after an early breakfast for a full day at the show. Although there are now many horticultural shows, Chelsea is still at the forefront – show gardens from new and established designers, the wonderful new airy marquee full with colourful displays of plants from the best nurseries plus an array of tools, books and items of interest to the gardener in the surrounding areas; special displays of Floral Art and endless information on every aspect of horticulture.

Day 3 - Royal Horticultural Garden at Wisley

Morning

Royal Horticultural Garden at Wisley

Check out and depart mid-morning to Wisley, the historic home of the RHS which houses one of the largest collections of plants in the world, grown in specialist areas and gardens. Guided tour with Frances on arrival and then free time to lunch, explore and shop in their exclusive shop and plant centre.

Afternoon

Return to Dublin

Late afternoon, short coach transfer to Gatwick for your return flight to Dublin.
