View Dates & Prices

A solo traveller can experience the magic of Bavaria in Winter with a short break to Germany. Enjoy various activities from your base in the beautiful Berchtesgadener region with its high peaks and romantic lakes; and it’s Germany’s only Alpine National Park.

Take a boat trip on Lake Königssee, the King’s Lake, one of the top destinations in Germany. It’s the deepest lake in Bavaria at nearly 200m and is located at the foot of the imposing Watzmann mountain, which gives it an almost fjord-like appearance.

Enjoy a guided tour of Salzburg and have time at your leisure to explore Austria’s fourth largest city. Famous for being the birthplace of Mozart and the setting for the ‘Sound of Music', it has a stunning Alpine backdrop and you’ll experience some of Salzburg’s best attractions, like the Hohensalzburg Fortress or traditional coffee houses.

There’s also an opportunity to take a romantic horse carriage ride in the Berchtesgaden region, wrap up warm and cosy as you enjoy the beautiful winter landscapes. You can also visit the salt mine of Berchtesgaden and learn more about this historic site which opened in 1517.

Discover some of the highlights of winter in Bavaria and relax in the stunning surroundings of the Berchtesgadener region on this short solo holiday to Germany.

Coach transfer to and from Belfast (Chichester Street) to Dublin Airport on selected dates.

Salzburg

Salzburg is a fairy-tale city surrounded by incredible Alpine scenery and has produced many musical protegees, most famously Mozart and you can visit his place of birth. The name Salzburg means ‘Salt Fortress’, referring to the salt barges that travelled up the Salzach River. Discover the UNESCO-listed old town and for panoramic views of Salzburg, go to the Hohensalzburg fortress.

Berchtesgadener Land region
Located in Bavaria and close to the border with Austria, it’s famous landmark is the Watzmann, the third largest mountain in Germany at 2,713m. You can also explore Berchtesgaden National Park, established in 1978. Another important historical site nearby is the Eagle’s Nest, an infamous building located at the top of the Kehlstein and used by the Nazi Party. Today, it offers some of the best views in Germany.
Boat trip on Lake Königssee

At almost 200m Lake Königssee, or the King’s Lake, is the deepest lake in Bavaria and it’s located at the foot of the Watzmann. Glide gently across the emerald green water on a quiet electric boat and visit St. Bartholomä Church that is world-renowned for its wine-red onion domes.
