Before commencing your cruise, you will step back in time and discover Ancient Greece with a guided tour of Athens. The Greek capital is one of the world’s oldest cities and has many historical gems, such as the Acropolis an awe-inspiring hilltop citadel, where you can view the incredible Parthenon and the Erechtheion Temple.

Istanbul, formerly known as Constantinople is the fusion point of where Europe meets Asia and is an exciting cosmopolitan city with a rich and diverse history. Admire the beautiful surroundings of Istanbul with an included cruise on the Bosphorus and during your free time you can visit the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia, which was originally a church, then a mosque and today it’s now a museum.Test out your haggling skills in the Spice Market or the Grand Bazaar,  the largest and oldest covered market in the world, where you can find just about anything!

Discover the beautiful Greek Isles of Santorini, Mykonos and Crete. Enjoy included excursions to the picturesque village of Oia in Santorini and the ancient palace of Knosso in Crete. A full program of optional excursions will be available for each port of call.

Food & Drink

Celestyal Cruises offers a range of dining options on board, both casual & more formal. Your cruise package includes three wholesome meals as well as afternoon tea every day. Breakfast is served buffet style and buffet and à la carte menus are available for lunch and dinner. Meals are cooked on-board by the ship’s chefs and feature fresh Mediterranean ingredients. When the sun’s shining brightly, there’s casual al fresco dining on deck as well as room service (at an extra cost), so you can choose exactly how and when you want to eat. Most days mealtimes are not set, so you’re welcome to sit down and enjoy your meal at any time you please. However, on other days there may be two sittings, please speak with your group facilitator on which sitting time you would prefer. Outside your four meals a day a 24 hour snack menu is available at an extra cost. Additionally, if you are looking to enhance your dining experience, specialty menus are available in the ship’s restaurant which feature both Greek and international dishes with wine pairing to enhance your stay on board. These are at an additional cost

 

Shore Excursions

Three excursions are included as part of your holiday price. Please see your itinerary for those included. These have been handpicked for you from among the most popular excursions on that cruise. Additional excursions (at an extra cost) are available to book onboard the ship upon arrival at the shore excursions reception desk.

 

Dress Code

For your cruise, casual and comfortable is suitable anytime during the day, in the buffet and in the restaurants. Swimwear is acceptable at the buffet and outdoor restaurant, but a shirt or a cover-up and footwear are required. If you are having dinner in the main dining rooms, smart casual is required. During your cruise there will be a Gala Dinner and Captain’s Cocktail party which is the perfect opportunity to get dressed up for an evening of cocktails, fine dining and great entertainment. Celestyal Cruises asks that that you attend in formal dress: a cocktail dress or something smart for ladies; jacket and tie for men. For the land portion and shore excursions we suggest firm walking shoes and weather appropriate layered clothing. Please note: Since your suitcases are collected on the last night of your cruise, don't forget an overnight bag for necessary medication, documents, phone charger and need-to-have items.

Athens 

Step back in time and explore the Ancient City of Greece. On a half day guided sightseeing tour of the capital you will get to see the breath-taking Acropolis, an ancient citadel perched on a hill top overlooking Athens. You will also see the Panathinaikos Stadium, host of the first modern Olympic Games and the only stadium in the world that is entirely built of marble.

Santorini

Santorini, also known as Thira, is part of the Cylades island group and is famous for its stunning whitewash buildings with blue doors and roofs, which correlates with the Greece's national flag. Day 1 - Travel to Greece

Upon arriving in Greece, you will be met our local representative in the airport, who will assist you in the transfer to your hotel in Athens. Take the rest of the day to relax, unpack and get to know your hotel and its surroundings.

Day 2 - Athens & Commence your cruise

Athens City Tour

Today marks the start of your cruise. Transfer from your hotel to Piraeus port with a half day guided city tour of the Greek capital en route. You tour will include a visit to the breath-taking Acropolis, an ancient citadel perched on a hilltop overlooking the city. This wonderful settlement is home to the Parthenon, a beautiful Doric temple, and the Erechtheion, a temple dedicated to Poseidon. You will also see the Panathinaikos Stadium, host to the first modern Olympic Games.

Commence your cruise

Arrive on board the Celesytal Crystal. Settle into your cabin and get to know your ship. You will set sail for Istanbul this evening.

Day 3 - Istanbul, Turkey

Spend this morning cruising across the Mediterranean Sea. Relax with a coffee and watch the waves go by or lie by the ship’s pool. The choice is yours!

Afternoon

Bosporus Cruise & Visit to Spice Market

Arrive this afternoon into the dynamic city of Istanbul, the crossroads of Europe and Asia, where east meets west. This wonderful city is a perfect combination of modern and ancient, displaying a dazzling range of architecture from majestic skyscrapers to historic mosques, temples and churches. This afternoon admire the city from the water during an included cruise on the glittering Bosporus Straits. Keep an eye out for the glamorous 19th century Dolmabahçe Palace and the former Ottoman palace of Çırağan, now a luxury hotel, on the European riverbank as well as the summer residence of the sultans, Beylerbeyi Palacen on the Asian side. Afterwards, take in the smells of the lively Istanbul Spice market, a covered market where you can haggle with vendors while drinking apple tea and enjoying the unique atmosphere.

Day 4 - Istanbul, Turkey

Have another day at leisure in this fascinating city. You might like to visit the Underground Cistern, a fascinating network of water channels and ornamental pillars, dating back to Roman times. Another Istanbul highlight is the Blue Mosque in Sultanahmet Square, ornately decorated with cascading domes and hand painted blue tiles.

Day 5 - Canakkale, Turkey

Canakkale, Turkey

This morning, arrive into Canakkale, perched on the edge of the Dardanelles straits, the dividing line between Europe & Asia. Have the day at leisure here to watch the ships pass by towards the Black Sea from your cruise ship. Alternatively take an optional excursion (bookable locally) to the battlefields of Gallipoli, where thousands of Irish & British soldiers fought & died during World War I. From Canakkale you can also visit the legendary city of Troy, best known for being the setting of the Trojan war, immortalised in Homer’s Iliad. Here you can see the former acropolis and a replica of the Trojan wooden horse. (excursion bookable locally)

Day 6 - Volos, Greece

Arrive this morning into the bustling city of Volos in Greece, located at the foot of Mount Pelion and believed to be the starting point of the mythical quest of Jason and the Argonauts. See the artefacts from this area in Archaeological Museum of Volos. Afterwards why not soak in the atmosphere of this Greek port city on the lively seafront dotted with tsipouradikas, traditional local seafood restaurants.

Day 7 - Heraklion, Crete

Heraklion, Crete

Arrive after lunch to Heraklion, Crete where you will have an included excursion to the ancient palace of Knossos, the ancient capital of the great king Minos, constructed around 1900 BC and birthplace of the Minos civilisation. Set around a central courtyard; admire the ruins of this immense palace, decorated with restored, lively frescoes. You will then have some time to explore the town of Heraklion at your own pace before returning to your ship and sailing on to Santorini.

Day 8 - Santorini & Mykonos

Santorini & Oia

The sight of spectacular Santorini will take your breath away. Today you will be taken on an included excursion to the picturesque village of Oia, perched on the northern tip of Santorini Island. Begin your day with a stroll around the charming village of Megalohori before continuing to Oia. Admire the traditional houses built into the volcanic rock as well as the stunning views across Santorini Bay before returning to your ship and setting sail towards Mykonos where you will arrive in the early evening

Mykonos

Mykonos is a classic Greek Island with whitewashed houses, blue-domed churches and windmills. Add a reputation for beautiful beaches and you'll understand why Mykonos is the most popular island in the Cyclades. Don’t miss the opportunity to wander around the winding streets of the Chora area and the Little Venice of Mykonos town.

Day 9 - Athens

This morning arrive back into Piraeus, Athens. Following disembarkation, you will be transferred to your hotel with guide assistance for one more day in the Greek capital. Have the rest of the day at leisure to explore Athens at your own pace. Your guide will be happy to suggest places of interest to see and visit depending on your own tastes.
